What the switch costs you on console

On PlayStation and Xbox the commands are identical, typed with the on-screen keyboard. Any cheat that needs testingcheats true disables Achievements and Trophies for that save, and skill cheats are in that group. Your other saves are untouched, so keep an achievement save separate from the one you cheat in.

How the skill cheat command works

The internal name is rarely the name in the Skills panel, so copy it from the tables.

Spaces, capitals and the level 9 ceiling

The command sets the skill to that number rather than adding to it, so stats.set_skill_level Major_Painting 3 gives a Sim who has done a little painting.

Watch for spaces. At least one large guide prints Major_Rocket Science and Major_DJ Mixing, and neither can work, because the space ends the argument and the console reads the rest as a level. Close them up. Capitals make no difference.

EA states that skill books take a Sim to level 9 and no further. Cheats have no such ceiling, so the command is the only way to hand a Sim a level 10 skill outright.

Adult skills, level 10

Minor skills stop at 5, so a 10 in those rows does nothing useful. Vampire Lore goes to 15, so typing 10 there leaves five levels behind.

The same right-click works on a skill bar in the Sim Profile, and on pet skill bars since version 1.37. Right-click a mastery perk to remove it.
